I have an T41 and I can't seem to disable security chip

#1 Post by clin0420 » Sat Mar 11, 2006 5:29 am

Wondering if anyone could help me with this issue. I cant seem to disable my security chip. When I disable it in BIOS setup, and then when I select the "about client security software" selection it shows that my chip is still enabled, but in the BIOS it says its disabled.

I mean if I really disabled it, I should have gotten messages indicating that I have to renable the chip, whenever I opened the client security software. So basically, my BIOS says that my chip is off, but the client security software in windows says that its enabled. What is going on here? Is my chip really disabled? How do I make the security software recognize the chip as disabled, if it really is, as indicated by the BIOS.
I have also directly tried to disable the chip through the client software itself, by selecting chip settings. But after the restart, the software still sees the chip as enabled... :(

BTW, I am running 3.19 BIOS IRETDNWW; 3.04 Embedded Controller; and 5.43 client security software.

My guess is that lots of people don't use Client Security. FWIW, I put it on a spare hard drive to try it out. It enable the Security chip without telling me, so my guess is that is what might be happening to you.
