warranty transferrable with the laptop?

I currently have a thinkpad with a 3 year warranty, and wanted to make sure that the warranty will still stay with the machine regardless of the new owner.

Can someone confirm this for me?

Yes, if it's IBM's warranty. It follows the machine's serial number.
