Update Connector and GHOST: Info and help is needed 2373KXU
Well the good news is thta IBM has assigned an engineer, at the RDU campus to work on the update connector 6 issues. [censored] part of the wffort I need to send him a GHOSTED clone of my hard-disk. So I bought GHOST 2003 and a Fujitsu 60 gig hard-drive which is the exact same drive as in the 2373 KXU and also a thin HD adapter. I can successfully clone the drive, however, for some reason it must not be perfect. I remove the exisiting drive and try to start from the cloned drive and the machine hangs at a flashing cursor. IBM engineer also took the drive and tried to boot from it with no success. We can can see the drive as D if we put back in the adapter nad see the files on it. Any ideas??
Thank you
Richard
Thank you

Ghostwalker should have come with the ghost cd. Sysprep is in a folder on the windows cd. I would recommend using sysprep.

By cloning the drive, I assume you are using the Disk->Disk function. If this is the case and you can't get the drive to boot, then I have a solution for you, which I discovered myself when also attempting to use Ghost.
The ThinkPad requires something on the hard drive in order to boot from the hard drive. Ghost doesn't re-create this thing when cloning the drive, but otherwise can clone hard drives that should work just fine. To create it, you have to run the recovery software on the new hard drive:
1) Put in the hard drive
2) Boot from recovery CD #1
3) You'll have the option to restore the Recovery Partition. You can choose yes or now, whatever you want.
3) Allow it to run and begin copying an image from the CD to the hard drive.
4) Take out the CD when it's done.
5) Reboot.
6) The ThinkPad should now be able to boot from the hard drive. You can shut it off now without continuing with the system restore.
7) Boot to Ghost.
Clone the hard drive by Disk->Disk
9) You should now be able to boot from the new hard drive.
