Ultrabay battery not charging.

I just got two ultrabay battery's but there is a error on them.
is there software I have to instal before they will work? Or can I just stick them in and they should do it?

Once in a while, my T43 will charge the 6-cell or 9-cell up, but will not then switch to charging the Ultrabay batt (which is expended first). Resolution: eject the Ultrabay, then reinsert. (Or ... charge while a TP is completely powered off/hibernating.) Seems like a Power Manager glitch.
2668-75U T43, 2GB RAM, 2nd hand NMB kybd, Dock II, spare Mini-Dock, and spare Port Replicators. Wacom BT tablet. Ultrabay 2nd HDD.
2672-KBU X32, 1.5GB RAM, 7200 rpm TravelStar HDD.
