Upgrade to QXGA screen possible ?

#1 Post by Troels » Wed Mar 15, 2006 5:12 pm

Hello all,

I'm thinking about replacing my 15" SXGA+ tft with a 15" QXGA (no i am not kidding you) on a T42 2379-DXU.

Does anyone have any experience about what QXGA (2048x1536) will look like on a 15" ? Is it really that much smaller than a 15.4" widescreen with WUXGA (1920x1200) ?

Is this even possible to do ?

TIA

This topis has always been something of an obsession with me. If I can find someone who gets this working then I will definitely try it too.

If you really want to try, you can start your research here, here and here

Unfortunately, while I am probably wrong about this, to the best of my knowledge, the QXGA will only go into an R series machine (something about the size of the LCD assembly when completely put together).

One chinese guy made a "Frankenstein" with a R50 body, T43 motherboard running a QXGA display that he named the "T43x".

Searched on the forum before posting and missed the first thread you linked to
thanks for the quick reply.
Seems like it will not work without modifications, hmmm.

It's very tempting to try it out, but sucks to buy it if it turns out it doesn't work... or has 4 dead pixels etc. for that amount of cash.

At that resolution, you have to be very picky to care about 4 dead pixels since I am sure it will be quite difficult to see them but I agree, if you pay for a panel like that, you want to get a perfect one.
