New Battery

#1 Post by eLinux » Fri Jul 23, 2004 5:38 pm

I just had my battery exchanged with IBM for the second time. My original battery (which came with the system) would drop from 23% to 4% in a matter of seconds.

The replacement battery that IBM sent me would not charge above 95%. I got this one replaced, as well.

So two questions...

Firstly, how do I check how many cycles the battery has had? I tried to follow the steps on one website I read but I couldn't find the battery properties which stated how many cycles the battery has undergone.

The second question I had was whether or not I have return the battery which won't charge over 95%. The battery replacement I recieved for the original battery had forms and a pre-paid shipping label so that I could return the old battery. When I called in a second time to get a replacement for the battery that wouldn't charge over 95%, the tech was surprised when I told him that I shipped back the old battery with the shipping label. This one brought no shipping labels or instructions. Do they want me to keep the battery?

Thanks in advance.

Answer #1:

ThinkPad Configuration>Power Management>Battery Information>Battery Health or Status detail.
