Difference between Integrated Bluetooth II and Bluetooth IV?

#1 Post by leobag » Sat Mar 18, 2006 2:14 pm

I have a T40p with Integrated Bluetooth II. Is there a big advantage of upgrading this to Bluetooth IV?

Hardware-wise, whats the difference? I was hoping that Bluetooth IV was Bluetooth 2.0, but I think it is only 1.2 - is that correct?

As for software, is the WIDCOMM 4.x software (with bluetooth IV) much better than the 1.x software (with bluetooth II)?

Or does everyone use the windows xp bluetooth stack?

Thanks,
Leo

Until a month ago I was using my Nokia 6630 as bluetooth modem for dial-up connection. It was quite disturbing that every so and so the connection dropped and I had to reboot the system to get it working again. Let's say this happened once in a two days. Then I upgraded to Integrated Bluetooth III and it only got worse. At the time this software was installed not only that connection dropped, but I lost all sound as well(?!). Finnaly Integrated Bluetooth IV came and fixed the problem. The connection was stable ever since.
Now I am using Globe Trotter EDGE card and it work better then BT dial-up.
