Removing Egather and Ugather ?

#1 Post by danny_isr » Sun Mar 19, 2006 6:58 am

This is starting to be really annoying . I’m sure many of you guys know what I’m talking about, My T43 goes to 100% CPU for really long time after re boots (usually). It can take even 15 minutes till I’m getting my CPU back to normal.

Are those services really necessary ? what exactly they do ? and the most important question – HOW CAN I REMOVE THEM ? :D

I don't seem to have such services on my T41 and there is no program like that. There is an egatheragent.xml, and I think that may be used by Software Installer (but I am not at all certain). I don't have any process that runs for 15 minutes after boot. ... JD Hurst

First, check if they appear in the installed program list:

Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Add/Remove Applications

If so, uninstall them.

If not, check if they appear in your registry global run key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\WINDOWS\CURRENTVERSION\RUN

If so, remove them.

Otherwise, look for them in Services:

Start -> Run -> SERVICES.MSC
