Hmm, im not sure how good that text file is, I found (from a backup CD) the old driver for the ati card, namely 8.082.2-041211m-019929C-IBM, filename 1yd132ww.exe, which you cannot find a mention of on the ibm website. thanks to google's cache however, i found:
http://72.14.203.104/search?q=cache:LKL ... ient=opera

which gave me downloadable links to these old files. I tried checking the text file mentioned for these drivers, and the search came up with nothing. My guess is ibm is hiding stuff there?

I could not only downoad the .exe file but also the .txt. Do you want me to post it?

I just realized that this version of the driver is the one that was installed on my TP when I first got it. And I had the fan issue at that time as well. So I'm not going to bother installing an old driver, at least until I get another confirmation of this fix from you guys.

Zeitgeist:
I think what Holr meant was, although this driver and its info webpage still resides on the server, it doesn't show up on the file that Dino mentioned:
ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/pc/pccbbs/allfiles.txt which is supposed to contain a listing of all the files in the pccbbs subdirectories.

hehe thanks hiyel ;-) just wondering, could you possibly post a copy of the old driver you had, so that some of us others could have a tinker and see what happens? Im currently running from the set previous, the ones I mentioned earlier, Id like to have the 1.33 version to run a comparison against.

Sorry Holr, I don't have the executable, it just appears on my Software Update's list. I deleted the content of IBMTOOLS and DRIVERS folders (to save space) except the xml files (to be able to use Software Update). I think we should ask Tungo or Christopher, but they haven't been interested in this thread for a while.

Mmmmm? I have been searching for the *.exe file on my Thinkpad for awhile now...No luck :(

I have gone through most of the IBM update folders and I can't seem to be able to find it.

Anymore ideas as to where I could look for it?

According to my xml file, the name of the executable is 1YD135WW.exe.
Maybe that helps.

I suspect that if you had it, the setup files would be in c:\drivers\1YD135WW or similar. Might be called 1YD135WW.exe.

Seems IBM downloads the bundled .EXE, then expands it to the \drivers and \ibmshare folders. The install folder includes a SETUP.EXE, not ########.exe

I'm too bafflled with this high temp and noisy fan to mostly T43 owners posting on this site. I got my T43 two months ago and i have no problem concerning on high temp. and noisy fan. right now it's barely warm at the bottom while the fan is in idle. and it's always like that eversince. about a month ago there was these software installer was offered from IBM together with a bunch of driver updates including bios update, i did update and upgrade drivers much of them but i skipped on ATI's. so far my only problem on my T43 is this ultranav red button in the middle of the keyboard it snags my finger most of the time while typing.

For whoever was able to download the file from Tungo's ftp mind reposting the file for others?

If someone sends the file to me I will put it on a permanent host.

Driver v. 8.133.2-050525a-024243C 8/11/2005:

http://www-306.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-41918
FYI, that link is not for T43 laptops.

I discovered that I have the old video drivers in question, as a directory in the original factory install (it has all the files, but it doesn't follow the 1wXXXX.exe convention). Zipping it up with winzip produces a 32 MB file, which is bigger than Briefcase Yahoo. If someone wants to point me to a host service or anonymous FTP server, I can upload this zipfile.

Now, before any of you celebrate, I uninstalled the latest driver and reinstalled this, and it doesn't quiet my fan. There is no perceivable change to fan noise. Maybe my model is unlucky. Otherwise, I probably have to try atitool, but I'll need settings information.

My CPU is between 45C and 49C, according to NHC. The fan makes a low hum, but it is not near-silent. Is this normal?

looks like this driver version is very demanding, and everyone is eager and curious to test it out whether or not it does help to decrease the temp.
so, please kindly post it with the link given above and share it with us all

Don't get upset nimativ. Not everybody knows the places to upload files. Thanks for pointing me that way.

To those who need the drivers, try this link from Rapidshare.de:

Good luck.

You send it requires an email address of the recipient?...I am making this available to everybody, so I don't think it makes much sense to do this.

Please get it from Rapidshare, if you need it, gunston.
