Hi everybody,
I'm one of the maniacs people that wants to get the best of his thinkpad (by weekly windows updating, software updating, undervolting, tuning the cooling system, etc...). I usually solve my problems by myself but this time i can't find the cause of my problem. i have a curious problem with my wifi card. I wonder if anybody of the users of this forum did encounter the same problem.
When i activate the 802.11 through the access connection utility, it will work during some time, and then, suddenly the wireless connection shut down. But it's not some error on the media. My wifi card is really suddenly shut down. I have to reactivate it again through the access connection utility.
I saw this behaviour on many wifi configuration so i am sure that this problem is in my thinkpad. I saw this behaviour by connecting on a linksys wrt54gc wifi router, a dlink dwl-900ap+ and an asus wl-330g at 3 different places (home, girlfriend home and work).
I don't know wheter it is the new driver or a software incompatibility but it is really annoying.
At work i use the standard ethernet connection (through the rj45 port) because i'm sure that when i use the wireless connection, it will hard-shutdown some minutes later.
Please answer :
- did somebody encounter such wifi behaviour ?
Here are the software that are running in background as i am writing to you :
- steam (cs 1.6)
- msn messenger
- skype
- NHC
- thinkpad fancontrol
any input is welcome.

Open up Access Connection from the ThinkVantage start menu group then go to Configure -> Global Settings and make sure that "Enable automatic wireless LAN radio control" is unchecked.
