Loosing case screws on T43

#1 Post by danny_isr » Tue Mar 21, 2006 10:47 am

I just noticed two screws are missing on the right side (bottom) those are the bigger screws one for the HD I believe and other one is in the corner just bellow the CD.
The laptop was never on vibrating surface , HD is 5400 . anyone else experienced this ?

Thanks Danny

The HD one sometimes falls off...so this is what could have happened!!!

The other under the cd-rom, is a security screw hole! If you put the torx screw there, then it will prevent the drive from being ejected, the Torx makes it less likely that someone will have one torx driver available to take the drive (back in the day, when Torx screws were the "new" thing I believed it to be a great asset; now you can purchase a torx bit at the corner store)

Apart from keeping every tom-dick-and-harry from tinkering away with your slim drive, tehnical reason for having Allen screw is that the user has more control over force he has to apply while driving it in. Avoiding damage due to inadvertently applying excessive force.

For completeness, I believe screws are not Torx, but Allen, at least mine is Allen.

In the figure, Torx is (d) and Allen (aka Hex) is (e)
