Combo drive

Hi,

the combodrive in my t42 somtimes failes to recognize brandnew cd-r's, or to add another track on already used ones. Playing Muisc cd's is some times strange (jittering sound).
I could not figure out when exactly this happens. Sometimes shutting the thing down and trying again the next morning helps...

My questions:

- do the combodrives have a history of failing occationaly
- how can i figure out, if the hardware is defect or if i cought some of the strange copy-protect software of one of the newer music cd's?
