Random dead pixel

#1 Post by Roark » Fri Mar 24, 2006 3:17 am

Hello all,

I got a refurbished T41p a couple of months ago. I've not been happy AT ALL with it, but the last issue I've faced is just too much.

The problems is that sometimes, one random pixel of my TFT SXGA+ screen seems to be died. If I reboot the laptop, ANOTHER DIFFERENT pixel seems to be dead, or there might be no dark pixels at all. Totally random issue, I know, but makes me think that some day after the 1-yr warranty expires the screen may get really fscked up, and I cannot let that happen.

Has anyone had a similar issue? Do you know if this behaviour is covered by the warranty? Does this justify fighting for another unit?

Any input will be appreciated :)

If you do a search (this is from what I have seen posted here), you can see that the touchpad causes these errors with the LCD. If you disable the touchpad, the problem should go away. I do not use the Touchpad, always disabled since the days of the T30, so I can not comment anymore on this issue other then what I have seen posted about it.

Give it a try.....

Maybe this was the way of IBM making sure that the track-point tradition moved on...LOL!
