Can I use T40p restore cds on a T42?

#1 Post by croak » Fri Mar 24, 2006 1:40 pm

Just bought a used T42, looks like there is no recovery cd creation or restore. Can I use my T40p restore CDs on it, and just update the drivers after install? Thanks.

It should work, however, you may experience some wierd screen presentation behaviour, and other less immediately noticeable oddities, until you get the correct device drivers loaded.

Cheers,

Probably the previous owner created already the recovery CDs. You may produce them only once. However, after a complete recovery the option appears again. Do you still have the service partition? If yes, try to restore the t42 by pressing "access ibm" during booting.

Yes, as already said, you can also use the t40 CDs.
