cleaning oily keyboard

#1 Post by FreeSolaris10 » Sat Mar 25, 2006 2:34 am

I have T43....accidentally I sprayed bug repellant, OFF, in my room...my keyboard is now tainted with countless dots on the surface that don't seem to go away no matter what I use to clean them...
any idea?

Reading the label on a can of Off! Deep Woods I see the following:
Off! Deep Woods label wrote:DO NOT APPLY ON OR NEAR: ACETATE, RAYON, SPANDEX, OR OTHER SYNTHETICS (OTHER THAN NYLON), FURNITURE, PLASTICS, WATCH CRYSTALS, LEATHER, AND PAINTED OR VARNISHED SURFACES INCLUDING AUTOMOBILES.
I would say you have probably damaged your keyboard, and are unlikely to get the spots off. However, that doesn't mean you shouldn't keep trying. In all probability you will need to replace the keyboard to get rid of the spots.

Did you spray for bugs and accidentally got the TP or accidentally sprayed the OFF?

Anyways...maybe put some rubbing alcohol in a qtip/rag and see if that works....never ran into this!

And next time try windows update, to rid XP of known bugs...but now we know OFF will not work.....
