Possible? Dual Monitors on the Port Replicator II?

I saw this posting on dual monitors on the Mini Dock is possible

Now my question is, is it possible to do this with the Port Replicator II?

I'd plug one monitor into the DVI on the replicator and the other monitor on the VGA on the replicator. I would like to Windows XP desktop spanning across the two monitors. I do not want to use the laptop LCD on my T42 (2378-FVU).

Has anyone tried this?
