Upgrading graphics?

#1 Post by O. » Mon Mar 27, 2006 9:10 am

My t42 has the ATI Mobility Radeon 7500 graphics controller, and I would like to upgrade it. I did a few searches but found nothing relevant. Can I upgrade to say the ATI Mobility Radeon 9600 myself? Any other suggestions as to compatible graphics cards? Sorry for the stupid question but I have little experience with laptops...

To be honest there truly isn't anyway to upgrade the graphics on the machine.

You need an entire new motherboard assembly, along with the "M10 long fan" assembly. the video chip is soldiered onto the board and is not upgradable.

Thanks guys, I was afraid of that. Oh well, looking on the bright side, it'll give me a good reason to buy a new Thinkpad in a few years time!
