question on rescue & recovery software

#1 Post by noeffort » Mon Mar 27, 2006 10:26 pm

Just installed new hd (Hitachi 7,200rpm) with a clean xp pro install. Loaded all driver software and updated bios to 3.20.
On last software installer check it asks if I want to install Thinkvantage Rescue & Recovery.

What is it and should I do it???

Any pros and cons would be appreciated..

Did add the Wireless Mini-PCI Adapter II with latest (software included is old version) connections software, very pleased with it and would recommend to anyone thinking about it.

If you install it, you'll be bugged each time by the Client Security Software to activate the security chip/fingerchip reader. I have to close it each time I boot up because the risk of my data being compromised is minimal and the chances of me forgetting my password, which must meet all sorts of conditions, is high.

I have the exact same problem, everytime i start up my t43 in a different location (different wi-fi area), the client security software pops up asking me about activating the security chip. Should I just uninstall Rescue and Recovery? Will my backup CDs work without it?

Cheers!
