IBM feeding my friend and I stories.

Both our shipments are scheduled to ship on Sept. 1st, and after contacting IBM, both our calls recieved different, but similar, stories.

I got the story that my modem is out of stock. Ok, believable. an "Agent" is contacting me tomorrow. I will ask for an alternative modem or none at all. Solved? Yes, except..

My friend ordered the same computer. He calls and asks why the ship date is delayed. The answer? The chassis, modem, and CD drive are out of stock. What the heck? The Chassis is out of stock?

The website said our computers were IN STOCK. 8 of them.

Should I call and cancel my order, or wait it out? I need my computer by August 19th, a good near 2 weeks before the projected ship date. A shame if I can't get a thinkpad, but I need something.

Called customer service.. got the modem removed from the shipment and the price.

Still says 9/1/2004 shipdate.

Are they lying? Is there some other part holding up the shipment?

I am NOT happy. Someone please tell me this is a mistake and my laptop will not ship a month from now... I ordered an in-stock model.

The ship date is a lie. When I ordered mine on Friday, it said it would ship on Sept. 13. Mine is on a UPS truck right now.

They ALWAYS ship earlier than they say.
