Good thing it's still under warranty. I called today, got a case number and a tech will call me tomorrow or the next day to schedule an appointment.
How painless is this procedure? My T40 just stopped working, powered on but nothing on the screen. Occasionally it would boot up (1 in 10 times) and START loading WinXP, but then froze partially through.
Looks to be a bad mobo. Can I schedule an appointment out of office hours (like before 7am or after 6pm?) Do they ask a lot of questions about original purchase receipts, etc, or upgrades (self installed 512MB upgrade, upgraded HDD?)
Thanks!

Not sure about hours, I usually just send it in, when you do that, take out the harddrive, cd drive, battery before sending it in. The service tech will ask all the questions first so once they send you the box, it is pretty much done. going this route will take 3 days.
Could your problem be the memory?

Actually, I'm on it right now. I pulled out the battery and it booted up fine... I have a 6-cell, 30Wh from manufacturer's original of 47Wh.chan_man wrote:Not sure about hours, I usually just send it in, when you do that, take out the harddrive, cd drive, battery before sending it in. I'll restart a few times and see if this is a problem. Has anyone ever had this situation before? Pulling out the battery fixes the problem?
Ok, now it works with the battery in too, but not before it failed booting up a few times. (with nothing on the screen). I had to push the on/off button and forcefully restart a few times before it could go back into Windows.
Oddly enough, once it's back in, it seems pretty stable.
