Sending my T41p in for repairs :(

#1 Post by akerman » Tue Jul 27, 2004 3:16 pm

Hey

I'm going to ship my T41p in for repairs one of these days... I have a whole A4 sheet written up about all the little flaws, defects and quirks it has. The most annoying one right now, is that it crashes when it gets too hot (playing FarCry right now, and when it crashes right before a savegame point - grr!).

So anyway, I wanted to know, if I need to remove my pirated software beforehand? Or will IBM technicians just look the other way :)

Any experiences are appreciated..

Quoting from the FAQ at http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=1689 :

5) Does EasyServ need my HDD to fix my ThinkPad?

Never send anything to EasyServ that isn't part of the problem. Period.

Now, I realize you're not in the USA and wouldn't be sending your TP to EasyServ, but I would think the wisdom in the FAQ entry would apply anywhere. Unless your HDD is part of the problem, don't send it in. If you do send it in, make sure you have a good backup of your data as it's quite likely to come back with the original preload on it.

I guess that doesn't really apply for Denmark then, as the IBM centre I called, specifically requested that I leave the hard drive in the machine, along with my OS. But thanks for the effort.
