I have a t43p and am using a plextor 716-uf external cd/dvd drive hooked up to a firewire 800 card. When burning dvd, the fastest it will go is 4x. I checked with plextor and I ran all the tests and the drive is fine. It burns fine, just slow.
Are there any settings on the t43p that I can change to make this go faster. I tried to set dma access on the drive and firewire card but they do not show as options.
Thanks for your help.

T43P and External DVD - Very slow
I had a CD drive that supported DMA, but after a restore, DMA would no longer show up as an option. The solution was to unistall all the IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers, and the CD drive, then reboot. Perhaps something along that line would work for you. Unintall the above in Device Manager, and I would also uninstall the PCMCIA adapters, then reboot. Windows should automatically reinstall everything.
