Hair in LED.
Hair in LED.
I seem to have this small hair INSIDE the screen for some odd reason. I have no idea how this got in there, but needless to say its annoying. At first I thought it was on the outside, but I rubbed it enough and its definately inside.
What are my options to removing this? Should I try spraying compressed air through one side of the screen or would I have to open it up?
Here are a couple pictures:

I've heard of IBM's dead pixel policy - about 10 dead before they replace the LCD, but I've never heard of their "hair policy"! One should be enough for a free swap!
Good luck. Gross.

Stuff will make into the layers of the display!
I have replaced a handfull of screens that had hair, food (crums) and who knows what stuck inside/behind the lcd.
You can dissasemble the lcd housing (metal cage) and dust-off(air) the layers; the only problem is that no matter how clean you think the room is, more stuff will show up by the time you are done putting everything back together......
My recommendation, call IBM/Lenovo and try to get it replaced!

That was quite obviously a case oferasmus wrote:That is definitely a hair!
I had a similar "hair in screen" case some years ago. Simply - one day I opened up my TP and there it was. In my case - only half an inch from the bottom - so it wasn't a big deal. Then, one day ten months later - it was gone! And I haven't seen it since...

I was attempting to make light of the previous sentence to knock off the China bashing as it's unwelcome in the Forum. If you didn't get the "sock" reference, it harks back to the days of windup victrolas when it was common to urge an inconsiderate neighbor to put a sock in the megaphone of the victrola to mute it at 3AM.johnchan wrote:Are you just racist or think you are somehow funny?
Sorry if I didn't make my point.
Want me to rephrase it? OK, some of my best friends are Chinese or of Chinese descent. Among which are many members here in the Forum, two business partners, a niece by marriage, several neighbors, etc., etc.
I spent more than 45 years traveling the world, first in the merchant marine and then as an environmental consultant and have been just about everywhere on the globe at one time or another. There are very few places I wouldn't return to today, and even fewer places I didn't feel welcome at the time.
Ethnic bashing OF ANY SORT is unwelcome in the Forum and I have a particularly short fuse when it comes to it. I'll usually attempt a semi-jocular admonishment as a first response, but I'm not above banning someone who doesn't take the hint.
Is that clear now?
Regards,
James

ANYWAYS back to my hairy issue.
Could I somehow use compressed air from an angle to get it shift it a little. I dont want to necessarily remove it; just want to get it out of sight.

I have tried pulling the lcd and "blowing air" into the layers to try to move/remove the problem; it seems to make it worse! The hair will end up were you least wanted it to go.......
You can attempt it, but again; I would call and try to get it replaced.......
