Buying a second hand T40, wondering how i can check if stole
I was wondering if there is a fast way of checking if the laptop is stolen.
If you look up the IBM warranty, will that say anything about stolen laptops or not?

I'm going to get a very nice T40 for a steal! I'm so excited.
What would you pay for a 1.5 40gb 512mb T40 with a year of warranty left?

I paid $1049 Australian for my T40 + accessories on Friday - could have gotten cheaper on eBay but in the end I decided that I wanted to find a reputable dealer with one, see it and test it out to make sure I wasn't getting a dud. I'm pleased so farToine wrote:Okay, cool.

i bought mine for $725 from IBM in January
I wouldnt pay any more than that, I just didnt want to do ebay again since the one i bought for my GF was a little more screwed up than "perfect!" like hte seller claimed (screen wasin poor condition, it had been dropped a few times, palm rest was cracked..). fortunatly, this particular machine was under the TPP and everything was replaced under warranty... but i didnt want to take that chance again.
