Just got this today from Bill, couldn't be happier...he saved me time and money.

Here's a generic looking picture :? :

My other laptop experiences have been an old clunker Dell Inspiron (I mean it does the job of a laptop, it just weighs a ton and feels kinda cheap), and an iBook G4 (nice quality from Apple, just OS X and I needed a PC for school). I picked a 14.1" one since my iBook was 12" and I really wanted to keep with something pretty compact, which this relatively is. Pretty light and thin. The little light above the screen is sort of gimmicky but hey, its neat! :)

I also really like the IBM location manager thing. The program where you can assign certain connection properties for a location and it will do things like automatically use the fastest available connection (wireless/wired/etc) available and such. The screens almost perfect, all I can find is one dead subpixel but I can't really complain about that. Can't expect them to build almost 1.5 million little pixels perfectly. My battery is also pretty loose so I might try getting a snugger one. Besides that I really like it.

There's a few more pictures here. Installing Gentoo Linux onto it (well actually install it to an external usb hdd) to waste some time. As they say on Ebay... A+++ would buy again etc....

I'm happy to report that Gentoo works very well on my T41 (2379-DJU). You'll probably want to check out the "tpb" (if you want an on-screen display) and "synaptics" (better mouse driver) packages.
