Panasonic UJ-825B DVD+-R/Ram Drive
Panasonic UJ-825B DVD+-R/Ram Drive
Bought this oem drive to put in my T23. I used the side and rear rails from my current DVD drive. Modified the front right corner bezel, as I had read on this forum in order to fit in the Ultrabay 2000 slots. Installs fine but T23 will not boot with drive present. If I boot up first and then install the drive, it works fine. After I get it working and try to reboot, same thing, it just hangs at the IBM splash screen. Any ideas? Other people seem to have gotten this to work. Thanks for any info.
Had the same problem when I tried fitting a UJ-815B in my T23, the only solution I found was to use a modified firmware (region free) which was set to csel - instead of csel + (or master or slave). This allowed it to boot, although it did delay the boot cycle a bit, trouble with THAT was that the csel - firmware made it detect in winXP as a non-removable device, making the ultrabay somewhat less hot-pluggable.
I really regret buying this stupid DVD writer, it can't even write the lead out on CDs properly, making it fairly useless for most things. (currently using it in a USB 2 caddy with an X31)
