Port Replicator Problem

#1 Post by thedonnybrook » Sat Apr 15, 2006 5:01 pm

the port replicator that came with my machine had to be replaced after a little bit of use becasue the usb port stopped working. I use a powered usb hub to expand the capacity of the one usb port on the port replicator II.

The second port replicator i recieved is starting to show similar symptoms. When docked my machine won't see any of the periferals connected through the hub. so there are three big questions:

first, is there a known problem with the usb ports on the port replicators?

second, would a powered usb 2.0 complient usb hub cause the usb port to go bad?

third, is there a way to fix it without having to do more warranty work?

Thanks.

There's lots of dodgy USB stuff around, and it always claimed to be compliant with USB specs, whether it really is or not. Your hub may well be causing a problem.

What brand is it?

Cheers,

after further testing, it looks like its the hub its self, since my external drives are working through the replicator without the hub. Thanks for the help though bill.
