Network bridge?

#1 Post by sktn77a » Tue Apr 18, 2006 12:20 pm

I recall when we first got our T4x computers, the wired and wireless networks were managed with the "network bridge" This appears to have disappeared with SP1/2 (?) Now when I copy files over the network, they transfer over the wireless (2200G) connection instead of the much faster ethernet. I can only get the faster ethernet connection by disabling wireless.

Anyone know if the systems can be set up to default to the faster wired connection?

Thanks in advance.
Keith

That is precisely what Access Connections is for. Set it up and set the wireless profile to disconnect itself when using a wired profile. Works great. ... JD Hurst

I was wondering if it as possible to have both connections - In both windows and Linux running.

Use wireless for general internet and use wired for cross over cable to another box or attached to a router to have access to a server or something?

Or maybe have specific client apps use designated connections and other applications (firefox) use one connection.

Access Connections really has some nifty features that Windows either doesn't have or probably couldn't do on its own. I use that from time to time since I usually plug into one of my routers at home if I need to do a large file transfer across the networks. :)

How do you manage to have Windows and Linux both running, except for a virtual machine program like VMware. In the latter case, used bridged or NAT networking and let the guest use the host connection or the host router.

I meant for BOTH platforms. I dual boot on most of my machines. All of them wireless to a wireless router. And some of them have wireless+ethernet to a router connected to a server.

I wanted to know how I could point my wireless device to exclusively use applications for internet and my ethernet device exclusively for interaction with the server.
