added memory--how do I know it is working?

#1 Post by fjs08 » Wed Apr 19, 2006 7:42 pm

Hi,

Just added a 512 RAM card to my already 512 machine. How can I access the computer to tell if the RAM is working, i.e. that I now have 1 gig?? Or is the fact that it installed and I could close the door on the bottom of the computer "evidence" enough??

Also, is the "original" 512 RAM card installed from the bottom or underneath the keyboard???

Thanks.

Frank

Original 512MB is under keyboard.

If you installed 512MB more, you likely installed under the computer.

You can check by booting up the computer. Go into Windows right click "My computer" properties, and the screen that shows up (with the IBM logo) will have your cpu speed and installed ram. I'm assuming you're using windows.

Use the ThinkPad Configuration utility, select System Information and look on the General tab for the line which is labelled Memory. There you will see how much memory your T4x has detected is installed.

Cheers,

Bill
