T42 lightweight drive-bay insert?

#1 Post by Edward Mendelson » Thu Apr 20, 2006 8:19 am

Did the T42 ship with a lightweight plastic insert that could go into the drive bay instead of an actual drive or batter? I seem to remember such a thing, but when I look in my various T42 gear, all I can find is the T40-size light-weight spacer that came with the Dock II. I can't find any plastic drive bay insert that fits into the UltraBay Slim.

Did such a thing come in the box (so I should keep looking for it), or is it available as a spare part? If so, does any kind person know the part number? Is it 13N5108, which is listed in the HMM as "Travel Cover" (ships only with certain models, apparently)?

Thanks for any help.

EDIT: It does indeed seem to be 13N5108, but any confirmation would be gratefully received.

I didn't get any kind of travel insert, but I can't be 100% certain that none was included. Our "corporate IT" people pawed thru my laptop before I got it.

How much weight would you save? Sounds interesting to use.... How much did you buy the part for?

If you can not get this filler part, you can always get the harddrive tray, it is really light without the hdd, and it comes with the cloning software for new harddrives.
