Graphics Media Accelerator vs. Radeon

#1 Post by Dutch » Sat Apr 22, 2006 8:22 am

Hi:

I'd appreciate a bit of advice. I am purchasing a T43 for my daughter's high school graduation present. I currently use a T42 myself. In almost every respect, the T43 I'm looking at will be a bump up, spec-wise. But the graphics card looks to be of lower specs, but I'm ignorant about graphics cards.

My T42 has, I think, the 32MG Radeon 7500

The T43 will have the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 900

My daughter is not a gamer. She'll be primarily using the machine for homework, internet, chat, etc.

Will that graphic-card difference be noticeable? What is the actual practical difference, in terms of visible results?

THANKS for any input.

The GMA900 isn't that much weaker than the 7500 anyway, and for the tasks she will be doing, she'll notice no difference whatsoever.

There will be absolutely NO visible difference in anything 2D (word processing, web surfing, etc.). The difference would show if she did anything requring 3D drawing (games, CAD, etc.).
