Disable fingerprint?
Disable fingerprint?
Can I disable the frintprint reader on the T43? I scared I'm going to touch it accidently and then the computer will do something.
Are there T43 models with no fingerprint?

Yes, you can disable it; but I have never seen it activate all by itself when a finger was swiped over it. There are also T43s without the Fingerprint reader as well.
Just swiped my finger over it now and nothing came up or popped up. I do know, however, that other laptop makers have a finger swipe trigger all sorts of stuff including the reader software; but as far as I know, that won't happen on a T43 with a fingerprint reader.

You have to hit the keystroke combo (CTRL + SHIFT + G?) or double click the little CSS red padlock in the Windows dessert tray to initiate a Six Million Dollar Man finger swipe action. Nice that, though the idea is so you don't have to type a password. So you have to do something with the keyboard.
Maybe in the future you can initiate it with voice, making the usual "na-na-na-na-na-na-naaaaa" sound. I'm e-mail Oscar Goldman about that.

Can I disable this CTRL-SHIFT-G? It is blocking a keyboard shortcut in Eclipse...davidspalding wrote:You have to hit the keystroke combo (CTRL + SHIFT + G?) or double click the little CSS red padlock in the Windows dessert tray to initiate a Six Million Dollar Man finger swipe action. I have a t43 with fingerprint reader...
It works like this:
You swipe your finger only when you need to enter windows password or power-on bios password,
in other cases it's turned off.
If you accidently touch it - nothing happens
You have to swipe it (while running a special program) 3 times identically to save you fingerprints...
There is no way to do any harm because of the fingerprint reader really
about ctrl + shift +g - what's that ? it doesn't do anything on my t43..

CTRL+Shift+G is the recall hotkey for the CSS Password Manager. So, unless you have CSS installed on your system its not going to activate anything.

Yep, in the Password Manager control panel (advanced settings). You can set a custom shortcut, or (I think) disable both, and just use the "double click the notification area icon" method. FWIW, I use CTRL + SHIFT + F2, as FN + F2 is the "lock computer" utility popup.robvarga wrote:Can I disable this CTRL-SHIFT-G? It is blocking a keyboard shortcut in Eclipse...
