Trackpoint problem on new 2378FVU

My new T42 is exhibiting strange behavior right out of the box.

When I left click the trackpoint to select (a box, etc.), the selection arrow jumps out of its position to a new position outside of the selection area. It will only select correctly if the arrow is perfectly positioned in the center of the selection area (like the exact center of radio circle). When I double click on the navpad to select, everything works normally.

I've made no troubleshooting attempt, so this could be as simple as changing a setting on the mouse control pad.

I appreciate any advice before I try to tackle this myself.

That's exactly what it is.
Adjust your ultranav Sensitivity for Palm and Touch - you are touching the touchpad as you click.
