Questions on getting a T43

#1 Post by invictus » Thu Apr 27, 2006 9:08 am

I'm looking to purchase a T43 and there's one thing I'm not sure on which to get - the 14" SXGA+ or the 15" SXGA+ screens.

I've worked with ThinkPad's at work and most of them have been just the 15" XGA screens, although lately it's been the 15" SXGA+ screens. I really love the screen resolution and the amount of 'real estate' that they have.

Will I feel cramped if I went with the 14" SXGA+ screen? I know that the laptop would be about half a pound lighter, but that doesn't concern me much (I won't be traveling much with it - just to work and back from home).

Also - I'm looking to getting the T43 from the ebay seller Thinkpadworld. I've read a couple of posts on them and I think they're good sellers (also checked their feedbacks). I'm not sure though on the warranty with Mack Computers. Has anyone done any business with them? Would I be able to extend my warranty with Lenovo/IBM even though I would have coverage with Mack?

Thanks for everyone's help.

- Jon

You should do a search here for thinkpadworld. There have been several posts regarding this company.

Well, I'll probably will steer clear of Thinkpadworld.

But what about the 14" or 15" SXGA+ screens?

I MUCH prefer the form factor of the 14.1" screen. To me, the small screen size doesn't matter because I get as much real estate, and the 14" is much thinner and has a smaller footprint.

Thinkpad World

I personally purchased my t43 from Thinkpad World. In my case, everything went smoothly. I have a warranty with IBM for 3 years with ez-serv depot service. They even let me change the model I received after the close of the auction.

If you have any further questions I would be happy to answer them.
