T43p - Can no longer go into Standby

#1 Post by Roy_W » Mon May 01, 2006 4:43 pm

When I close the lid or use FN+F4 "Standby' no longer takes effect. :(

The windows Power Manager/Advanced tab no longer allows me to select "Go into Standby when the Lid is closed", as it used too, although the IBM Power Manager does still give me this choice.

What would I need to do in order that my "Standby" comes back, to life or semi-life again.
I have deleted/reinstalled the ACPI drivers etc... but to no avail.

I had this same problem. Try fooling around with your power settings; this worked for me.

Your best bet may be to use Windows System Restore, to restore to a previous day where you did not have this problem.

Go to: Start > Help and Support > Pick a task -> Undo changes to your computer with System Restore

Thanks Guys, in the end I reinstalled a backup image( Acronis).

Strange, but before restoring my backup, I booted from a linux bootd CD and the problem remained, so i had presumed that I had a hardware failure or some kind. Now after restoration both XP and Linux function correctly. :?

I think my problem may have originated from either NHC ot TPFancontrol. I haven't reinstalled them and everything is working fine now.

Cheers :D
