wifi icon does not lit on t41

i have t41 whit "wifi upgradeable" option.
and i got the intel wifi pro 2200bg 3b card, but the manufacturer is dell.

i got working the Fn + F5 with intel pro set program and drivers, but the led do not lit on the screen.
why?

Look at the sticky threads at the top of the T4x forum, you will find a host of relevant material on non-IBM supplied Intel 2200BG cards there.

because the hack you used to get that card to boot disables the LED.

hmm, i did not use anu hack, but maybe the seller did.
but i updated the bios, and it still worked.
where is that "hack" then?

and after it is impossible to find out is the laptop with hack or without?

also the update of the bios does not remove the hack?

fn+f5 works fine with intel drivers.

The 1802 fix tweaks a bit flag in the CMOS configuration memory of the ThinkPad, which basically tell the ThinkPad to ignore the normal test for a known IBM OEMed wireless card, so a BIOS update does not impact it.

is it somehow possible to restore CMOS or set default factory settings?

by removeing backup battery?
