Is it possible to remap the volume buttons on T42?

#1 Post by Eraser212 » Fri May 05, 2006 11:56 am

Hello,
I've bought a Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS Notebook for my T42 and it works great:)
But unfortunately I can't use the volume buttons anymore because they seem to be directly connected to the internal soundcard.

Is it possible to remap the buttons so that they control the windows volume?

I've already found a program which makes it possible to remap the "Access IBM" button.
So perhaps it is possible to remap the volume buttons as well in some way.

thanks, Hendrik

AutoHotKey (AutoHotKey.com) is a free program that will let you set the volume. Get it and in the help index type volume, and you will see how.

However, AutoHotKey let you see the code number, that a button press generate, but in the case of the "Access IBM", and the volume buttons, it doesn't detect any button press. So what I say is, that you can definitely map the volume button to other buttons or button combinations on the keyboard, which ever you like. Like Fn+u for up and Fn+i for down, or whatever. But for the real volume buttons, I don't know. If you could find some registry tweak, like for the access IBM tweak, then you could compile the scripts you wrote on AutoHotKey to executable programs, and let the volume keys run it.
