x300 hypermemory working on t43?(oblivion and new games)

#1 Post by nimativ » Fri May 05, 2006 1:31 pm

anyone actually got this card to add system memory to the GPU?
Elder scroll's Oblivion requires 128mb of GPU ram......don't know whether it will be possible to play this game on my t43.
if i can't extend the 64mb gpu memory there's no chance .

I get 256MB reported with HyperMemory, so it appears to indicate that it is working. I haven't tried it out with Oblivion, but it did give a significant boost in other games I have tried so it should at least help. :)

me too i have 256mb reporting in the ati control panel((in the adapter window).
but i don't see anywhere where u can control the amount of system memory to allocate to the GPU....plus i don't actually see the term "hypermemory" mentioned in the control panel at all.
it just says memory size:256 mb.
i am using the ati drivers from ibm/lenovo. do the ati catlyst or omega drivers give u access to these hypermemory settings?

wow......are you gonna play Oblivion with X300? i don't think it's gonna work, even you got up to 512mb GPU ram with X300.
I saw it's minimum requirement is P-4 3.0Ghz :(
i would suggest you get a x1800 8)

my dothan 1.86 outperforms a p4 3.0 ghz in every test.
and i can always overclock it to 2.0 gigz.
Im planning to overclock the gpu to 400/300(is it safe?).....so only gpu ram can prevnt me playing this game. if the hypermemory claim is true that should not be a problem.

ps: x1800? hello i'm on a t43!

<- Totally clueless

I don't suppose someone could write a road map to see these things ("ATI control panel" ... where? Display Properties | Advanced? ATI Tray Tools?)?

Or post links to screen shots somewhere (remember, if you past images in the thread, you need to say so in the SUBJ). I'm curious.

The X300 isn't listed as compatible for Oblivion, the X600 looks to be the lowest X-series ATI card. The ATI 9500-9800 is also listed so a T41p should be able to play it.

in mine it shows 256mb instead and it's not editable.
is it editable with omega drivers?

I have no idea where it would be "edited."

weird cos x300 and x600 are basically the same chip.
i googled and found people running oblivion with x300 on minimum settings with no tweaks. but surely that's not the way to enjoy the game.
i'm sure if we can get this hypermemory to do its job and with a little overclocking....we can get it playing decently.
i'm gonna start overclocking the gpu to 400/300.

Let us know how that goes; this sounds interesting. :)

ps: x1800? hello i'm on a t43!
I have couple questions:
1. I am wondering that how can you "alwasys" overclock your CPU.
2. t43 series (dothan CPU) can't overclock.
3. you mean the test such as PCMark? it's doesn't indicate the gaming performance. my 2.13ghz can't even beat up a p-4 3Ghz on gaming.

p.s. i know you can't get a X1800 on t43, i was meaning that you should get a computer with x1800

yeah cpu can only be underclocked :x u#re right.
about dothans....a 1.86 was almost on par with the p4 3.2 in ALL benchmarks i've seen.
u can't compare gaming cpu performance just by simple comparison unless the 2 systems are running the same graphic card.

i compared my another laptop and my desktop, both same spec except their cpu, p-m 1.8 vs p-4 2.8, both X600 128MB, 80GB 7200rpm HDD, 1GB ram, windons XP pro.......the desktop performs about 50% better than the laptop on all the different games.
what you seen on the benchmark doesn't mean they do the same on gaming.

I have the same but 2.13 GHz porcessor and I was hoping this game might work, so I'm a little disappointed

I am surprised by the T43p then. My T41p seems to play ok. I set the resolution to 800x600 though. I played at 1024x768 with my T60p.

I have not tried it on my system yet, but if anyone disagrees and thinks it might work I'm all ears...

Is it because of the FireGL Graphics Cards (V3200)?
