T41p is showing strange patterns ..

#1 Post by akerman » Thu May 11, 2006 1:34 am

Just check out this screenshot:
http://www.eple.dk/images/weird.PNG

Yesterday it was fine, and now 10 minutes ago when I booted it looked like this..

What the h.. is wrong? Never seen anything like this before. The patterns change a bit, at boot they have other colours etc.
But if you can see it too, on a screenshot, it's not a hardware problem right? But if it isn't, howcome it's there at boot.. hmm

With "print screen".. strange thing is it dissapeared before. Now it's back. It fluctuates a bit when I click links, and move dialog boxes etc. Also has an effect when I go from 16 to 32bit and reverse...

Now I'm thinking hardware malfunction with the video card :-(

Agreed your problem is with the GPU.

Try disabling the Video Adapter in Devise Manager.

Reebot.

If the screen looks fine that means GPU is dead.

cmarti's post gave me an idea. You could try turning off hardware acceleration in the display property settings for the graphics adapter. It might only be the accelerator causing problems.

Thanks.. tried both of your suggestions to no avail. So there is probably a hardware malfunction..

which means I'll have to pay dearly to ship into service, which was an absolutely horrible experience last time. Argh :-(

my mouse on t42 sometimes leaves "dead" pixel
as a result of bad mouse drivers
try to reinstall/update drivers for as much things you can
maybe it will fix it

good luck!
