product recovery discs yet again
product recovery discs yet again
Hi,
I tried to make a recovery disc compilation and managed only to make 5 discs (T43). The interface box showed that the recording was completed.
Yet, aren't there 7 disc altogether?
When I want to redo recording I get a message I've done it already.
Any solutions to this? Thanks.
Alex

1 Cd and 1 DVD. T43 should be 5 CDs. My R52 is 6 CDs. You can compile another one when you reformat the whole system again. Some system can record many times and some cannot. Don't know why.

Greetings,
Since you said that the interface box showed you that the recording is completed. It is done. So far the interface box can't be wrong.
I used to wonder how come some computers record so few Cds and some so many Cds. It depends on how many files your computer store. LOL

The recovery disk set I received from IBM for a T43 1872 had a R&R boot CD + 6 image CDs (7 in total). Burning a set from the on-HDD recovery information may result in a different number of CDs.sm56 wrote:is it 5 cds for T43 then?

Hmmm.........
My T42 also made a total of 7 CD's when I burned the Product Recovery Disc set.
I don't know if this could be the cause, or even possible, but some CD burners support "overburning". If you overburned your CD's, that might account for the difference. Another thing is "oversized" CD/R's which also hold more data than normal CD/R's. See link below for a little information on this.

I used a pressed set of recovery discs to restore my T42 hard drive and there were 7 cd's. After I restored the hard drive I made a set of my own recovery cd's. (The pressed ones were borrowed.) It only made 6 cd's. The pressed cd's were good fo more than one model of T42.
