Yet another product recovery disc question...

I have a full set of product recovery discs for my T43, but my daughter did not create a set for her T41p (2373-GEG). Her T41p was recently re-formatted, post crash, while she has her year studying abroad... (Last time I saw it, the whole Windows interface was in Italian!)

a) Can I use my T43 discs on her T41p to restore her system and then, with Software Installer, etc. make the necessary subsequent updates?

b) Alternatively, can a set of T41p discs be copied when she returns to her UK university, where others have the same model?

She can borrow her friends' computer and copy the set of recovery disks and later use the set for her own recovery. It must be the same model or else later the computer will err...

I am still interested to know whether R&R discs are the same for the T41p and T43? Looking at the Lenovo website and reading past postings here suggests that they are the same, as long as they are for the same basic series (i.e. T4*.)

Any comments/ thoughts?

No, but they may be close enough to get you going again.

From my experience, disks for later T4x models may not have drivers for some specific devices on earlier models, particularly in terms of graphics processors or network interafces. So, you may have to live with some strange display charcateristics until you can get on line and let the Software Installer lose on downloaing the latest exact drivers for the particular T4x model you have.

I would certainly make sure you do have the network interafce driver available for the exact T4x model you have before you start a restore from a non-exact model match recovery disk set, otherwise you may have an exciting time getting on the Internet to use the Software Installer!
