T42p DVD media

#1 Post by umbonner » Tue Aug 03, 2004 2:01 pm

Burning DVD's is a new thing for me. Thinking a writable DVD is a writable DVD (I know, I'm daft!) I bought DVD+R's and they won't work.

In addition to DVD-R and DVD-RAM, what other media types are compatible with the multiburner in my T42p 2373GUU?

Edit: Web spec. provides no info.
Edit2: I checked the FAQ. I should have searched the forum before posting. Sorry!

Thanks!

Murray

Hi Murray

Just buy a couple of DVD-RW discs...........they should work, and then once you have mastered your dvd burning, get some DVD-R.

Addiionally, the DVD-R discs usually are compatable in about 95 % of standalone players, whereas the DVD+ is 90%.

One other thing about DVD-R is that it is less expensive than the dvd+

Regards

David

BTW: Look for Ritek G04 dye..........it is best for the dvd recordable media!

Suppose your DVD writer is the same as mine (2373CYU) and it supports only DVD-R/RW and DVD-RAM. You can see all drive capabilities using f.e. NeroInfo tool

Thanks, Alfa.

Assuming you're not referring to one of ancient Rome's more debauched emperors, what is "Nero" and where can it be found?

Sorry to be lazy, it would just be nice to go straight to the right thing, instead of sifting through tons of historical references.

btw, i ran nero infotool, and it's telling me that the multiburner can't READ any + format DVDs. Is there anything to worry about?? The IBM documentation states that the drive does read + DVDs. Maybe it's because i'm using an old 6.0 version of nero?? I bought it as soon as it came out, and i haven't done any updates.
