wireless can't access network
okay.
using my thinkpad t42 i can't access my local linux fileserver or any other computers on my network, but when i plug it into the network via cat5 or whatever i can access everything, no problem.
i have a dlink 614+ router and i think the chipset in here is intel 2200BG card.
any ideas?

Many possible reasons:pete0r wrote:okay.

- firewall enabled for your wlan interface
- your wlan IP blocked by the linux box/wlan ap
- no proper networking services installed for the wlan interface (file and printer sharing for MS networks, client for MS networks, TCP/IP)
- no WINS server configured for the wlan interface
- access point hasn't allocated an IP for your wlan interface
- wlan nic's mac address not configured in the wlan access point
- wlan not enabled

Take a look at IBM's write up on their support site,

I assume you have the IBM Access Connections software installed and enabled. I could not connect to my wireless LAN without it.
But this software does cause problems with my machine "hanging" at the Logging Off prompt when I shut down. More on that topic in this thread:
