Trackpoint drivers coexist with Intellipoint driver?

#1 Post by sbddude » Wed May 17, 2006 12:02 pm

I want to install drivers for both the trackpoint and Intellipoint. The trackpoint drivers are required to use both the trackpoint and touchpad, while the intellipoint drivers are required to assign buttons and scroll wheel acceleration on the external mouse.

However, one driver always overwrites the other, so I can't have them both coexist. Is there a way around this?

Not really, or so there are none I have found thus far. For my mouse, the drivers weren't needed and it has around 9/10 functionality in terms of the buttons. Forward, Back, Scroll wheel and rocker, MMB, etc. :)

I met someone who looks a lot like you.
She does the things you do.
But she is an IBM.

I disovered a solution, at least for now, accedentally. I installed the trackpoint driver, then microsoftr software, then reinstalled the trackpoint driver. Now both coexist !! :)

I haven't had any problems with IntelliPoint 5.3, 5.4, 5.5. No reinstallation of IBM Trackpoint Driver was necessary.

Ensure you're performing a reboot after installation (even though Intellipoint doesn't require it), just to ensure both cohabitat well.
