Film over icon plate?

I am curious if there is a piece of clear film over the icon plate?

I have just noticed what appears to be clear film that's peeling off the icon plate on my 10 hour old 2378-FVU. Is it OK/recommended to just remove it if it's just a film?

I really hope this is minor (considering my previous experience of having somebody open up the LCD assembly).

yes there is a protective film over the clear plate.
You can jsut peel it off.

yes it's just to protect it from getting scratched. i know some people that never peel those things off, but i believe it's fine, i peeled mine off.
