Boot from HDD Caddy

Guys,

Does anyone know if i can load an OS onto the Ultrabay HDD Caddy and will it boot from it if selected to be the first boot device?

Yes you can... I do this with Ubuntu on my 2nd HDD adapter.

I didn't make the changes in BIOS so it doesn't automatically boot from it, but I press F12 then select the hard drive to boot from (since I usually boot into Windows and not Ubuntu).

Are you able to install windows 98 on it as well and do the same thing?

I haven't tried it with Windows 98, but it should be possible without any problems. You just have to make sure that Windows 98 knows exactly which HDD it is installed on. :)

In order to achieve what you ultimately want to do, you must install any OS HD internally in your Thinkpad as the main HD. Then, install whatever OS you want on it.

Once the OS is installed, put your original HD back in the machine and your new OS HD in the 2nd HD adapter.

Then use the F12 key on BOOT to select which OS you want to run.

Awesome, thanks guys. The reason for 98 in case you are wondering is that some older games that i have do not work in xp properly. :D

Really? Even in Windows 98 Compatibility Mode in Windows XP?

Yeah, I've got a few older games that will not work or work well in xp. Most of them i can get to work but some the sound, or just other random things won't work for whatever reason.
