T42 - fan blows cold air

#1 Post by z142 » Fri May 19, 2006 11:03 am

Hello.
I bought my second ThinkPad - T42 2374-Q16 (R40 was the first). I was suprised, that fan is running approximately 90% time of my work (typing, browsing, etc.). I measure temperature by MobileMeter - fan starts at cca. 40-41 centigrade degrees of CPU and stops at 33 degrees. Frequency is 600Hz.
When I us AC main supply, fan doesn't stop. He's running constantly and blows cold air.

All drivers and BIOS are up to date.

My question is - is it normal state? Thanks for your answer.

p.s.
Sorry for my cze(ch)nglish   [/list][/i][/u]

Same situation on my t42p

Solution, for me (when i'm on batteries trying to conserve some power): use the fan utility found on this very forum :D

Yup, I have heard some T42s, mostly T42p models, that do that; solved pretty much with the TP FCU. :)

I met someone who looks a lot like you.
She does the things you do.
But she is an IBM.
