Battery latch?

#1 Post by andyk » Wed Aug 04, 2004 12:16 pm

Thanks Leon and G-Man. So:

The main battery latch is normally positioned between open and close. Apply only horizontal force to lock/unlock.

Thanks Leon. Should I be able to push the latch to the closed position though?

Yes you should. Remove the battery, and reseat it again, and force the latch a bit to the closed position.

Check the IBM site for the HRU 9L56349 - hammer for seating new batteries - works every time - every thoughtful Thinkpad owner should have one

This may be obvious, but I didn't think men are supposed to use fingernails... :)

The battery latches move easily with fingernail (purely horizontal force), but can be very difficult to move if any vertical force is applied.

I didn't think I have fat fingers, but... :)

Well, I have piano player fingers, but will ask one of my friends with fat fingers to move the battery latch on my TP to the closed position. After reading what I just wrote... This is gross. Sorry if I offended anyone.

Regards,
G-Man
