I tried to install the normal ones a while ago and had pretty bad results.
:(
a flickering LCD problem and a lack of any type of acceleration.

one on ibm's site, to my experience, is just the ATI one with a few superficial label changes

i remember that with Omega drivers,
i have read some thread here before, it has dissipate more heat for GPU and ATi. compare to IBM's ati driver.

I'm using the catalyst 6.3-based omega-drivers on my t41p (with ATI FireGL 2), and they're working great. (had some problems with the official IBM release, and have found the omega drivers to be better for my system)

I haven't noticed more heat dissapation, but there is heat when gaming, of course. Either way, I have trouble understanding how an alternate driver could create more heat from a hardware device...

Drivers are at www.omegadrivers.net

Select "ATI Radeon" from the top menu and "win2k/xp" on the next page :-)

I haven't run any tests, but have always felt that the omega drivers gave me better gaming performance. (and for the Radeon 7500 on my old T42 enabled me to play some games I couldn't with the IBM driver).

I figure, when the IBM/Lenovo drivers are lagging behind (timewise) on implementing the newer catalyst versions, better to use drivers based on the newest ATI-releases :-)
