T43 USB port

#1 Post by mixelogj » Sun May 21, 2006 6:04 pm

Hi all!
I have been having a problem with my T43's USB ports for quite some time, but only now that i bought a usb stick that is affected did I really care. My Thinkpad is of the type 2668-97G. The problem is that some USB sticks have no effect when inserted into one of the two USB ports. For instance, this Sandisk cruizer profile when inserted remains idle. The led isn't lit and no reckognition is done. The same wsa true for other two random USB sticks my friends tried (i think one of them was a jetflash). However, other USB sticks such as my two Kingstons work with no problem. The same is true for other USB devices. The USB sticks that didn't work were afterwards inserted into other computers and worked without problems.
Is this a known issue?

Thank you!!

It seems to be a common issue for many users with many types of PC and memory sticks. I'm not aware that there is any specific solution to it as yet, but maybe someone else has more info on it?!?

Cheers,

Bill

I haven't tried a printer on it, but I have tried portable hard disks and mice with no problem. As for refreshing devices, you mean in the device manager?

Hi all,
I finally found what it was by asking a friend who had randomly heard about it. Some Xilinx software installed some USB drivers which in some cases rendered some other USB devices non operational.

Thank you !
